Hoffman - Shires

Greta Ellen Hoffman and Christopher Robert Shires were married July 29, 2006, in Brookfield United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Shires, groom’s father.

The bride is a daughter of James and Becky Hoffman, 1060 N. Albright-McKay Road, Brookfield.

Besides Dr. Shires, who lives at 10860 Tomoron Lane, Boca Raton, Fla., the bridegroom is a son of the late Karen Christina Shires.

Matron of honor was Alyssa Booms, Columbus, Ohio, bride’s sister. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Berger, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Tammy Spradlin, Canton, Ohio.

Michael Redmond, Houston, Texas, was best man. Groomsmen were Thomas Murphy, St. Louis, Mo.; and Nick Schirz, Cincinnati. Ushers were Matthew Ruppert, Cincinnati; and Patrick DeFerdinando, Boca Raton, groom’s stepbrother.

Dr. James Shires, groom’s uncle, was reader. Pianist was Shirley Warren, bride’s aunt.

A reception was in The Corinthian, Sharon.

After a honeymoon to Park City, Utah, the newlyweds live in Cincinnati.

Mrs. Shires, who earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, is a seventh grade language arts teacher at Winton Woods Middle School, Cincinnati.

Her husband earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Marshall University, Huntington, W.Va., and a master’s in history from University of St. Louis, Mo. He is interpretive services manager for National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Cincinnati.
