Janet L. Follmeyer and Leonard F. Reuter were married November 3, 2007 in Old St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, in the Society Hill section of Philadelphia, by the Rev. Dominic Chiaravalle.
Historic Old St. Mary's Church was built in 1763, and served as the first Roman Catholic Cathedral for the Diocese of Philadelphia. The church served as the site for the first public religious commemoration of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1779, and George Washington and John Adams worshipped here on a few occasions.
The bride is a daughter of James and Charlotte Follmeyer, Hermitage.
Bridegroom’s parents are Bobbie Reuter, Cincinnati, Ohio, and the late Robert Reuter.
Sherri Miller, Philadelphia, bride’s friend, was maid of honor, and Joan Follmeyer-Eller, Sharon, bride’s sister, was the bridesmaid.
Donald Reuter, New York City, groom’s brother, was best man, and Jason Follmeyer, bride’s brother, was the groomsman. Ushers were Jim Follmeyer, Hermitage, bride’s brother, and Ron P. Swagman, Philadelphia, groom’s friend.
Edward Jefferson was the reader.
Jaquelin Smith was the vocalist and Robert Bader was the organist.
A rehearsal dinner for the wedding party and out of town guests was held at the Penn’s View Inn, Ristorante Panorama, Old City, Philadelphia hosted by the groom’s mother and sister, Janet Huston, both Cincinnati, Ohio.
A reception was held at the Fleisher Art Memorial, Philadelphia. Dinner music was performed by The Jean-Marc Yee Trio.
The newlyweds live in the Queen Village section of Philadelphia and will honeymoon in Eastern Europe.
The bride graduated from Hickory High School, Hermitage and Temple University, Philadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations. She is currently attending Holy Family University’s MBA program. She is a proposal writer for the sales and market department of AmeriHealth Mercy’s Pharmacy.
Her husband graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, where he received a bachelor’s degree in religion, history, and ancient studies. He received his master’s degree in Asian-Middle Eastern Studies, from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and his juris doctorate from Temple University’s School of Law. He is an assistant city solicitor with the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department.
