Mr. Wade Claims New York Bride — Prominent Charlotte Capitalist Married Yesterday

At noon yesterday in New York city, Miss Janet Hodge Browne was married to Mr. Thomas Wilkinson Wade of Charlotte. The ceremony took place in Trinity church, and was performed by the bride's brother, Rev. Duncan Hodge Browne, formerly rector of Christ church, New Brighton, N.Y., and lately returned from France, where he served as chaplain in the 77th division.
The bride is the youngest child and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Prosser Browne, of 121 West 91st street, New York city, and Cragsmoor, N.Y. She is a graduate of Barnard, and a talented musician. Much of her tune has been spent at the summer home of the family at Cragsmoor, where her athletic taste have found ideal environment, notably in tennis and motoring. She is an active member of the Red Cross Motor corps of New York. and has five brothers who have been prominent in war activities, three having served with distinction in France.
Mr. Wade is one of the prominent capitalists of Charlotte. He came here nearly twenty years ago from Georgia and for a number of years was president of the Piedmont Cotton company and its active head, proving to be one of the most successful cotton merchants of the state. He was one of the organizers of the Union National bank of Charlotte and its first president, retiring from that position after S or 10 years, to become chairman of the bank's board of directors, being one of its largest stock holders. He has recently sold out his entire business interests in the bank and retired from its board of directors. He is one of Charlotte's largest property holders.
No one holds higher record in the business life of the city and few are more prominent in its social and civic activities.
Mr. Wade left here wth the intention of sailing for Europe shortly. He and tis bride will not return to Charlotte before the early fall.
