The groom is the son of Serge and Rosette Malek of Faget-Abbatial, France. He graduated from Lycee D'Ivry in 1981 and received bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry and physics in 1983 and 1985, respectively, from the University D'Orsay in Paris.
The couple took a wedding trip to Italy. They reside in Ivry-Sur-Seine, France, a suburb of Paris.
