Joseph and Joellen Long, 2001 West St., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 29 with a trip to Las Vegas.
Their children are Candice and Alan Kirts, McCook Lake, S.D., Denise Ayers, and Cyndi and Steve Hope, all of Omaha, Jan and Mike Frerichs, Merrill, Iowa, and Nan and John Morehead, Sioux City. The couple have six grandchildren, Corey Ayers, Tucker Noll, Alex and Kate Kirts, and Cassie and Levi Frerichs.
Mr. Long and the former Joellen Gaylor were married July 22, 1950, at the home of Mrs. Long's parents.
Mr. Long retired as a lieutenant with the Sioux City Police Department.
Mrs. Long is semi-retired and works part-time as church secretary for Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ.
