Abby Leigh Hess and LTJG Ryan Daniel Gates were united in marriage July 23, 2005, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Joplin, Mo. Fr. Bill Hodgson officiated the ceremony.
Abby is the daughter of Bob and Kim Hess, of Carthage, Mo.
Ryan is the son of Dan and Jeanette Gates, of Wichita, Kan.
Maid of honor was Melanie Sleesman, friend of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Susan Widener, Erica Zick and Brooke Naegele, all friends of the bride.
Best man was Aaron Gates, brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Joel Switch, Steve Lamoure and Matt Naegele, all friends of the groom.
Flower girl was Baylee Eck, cousin and goddaughter of the groom.
Ushers were Kelley Eck, cousin of the groom, and Adam Hess, brother of the bride.
A dinner and dance reception following the ceremony was held at Twin Hills Country Club.
After honeymooning in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple now reside in Virginia Beach, Va.
