Wedding – Clark-Mayo
Jamie R. Clark and Michael P. Mayo exchanged vows and rings Aug. 8, 2009, at 5:30 in the David Barber Civic Center at Newcomerstown. Mayor Steven B. Guy performed the ceremony and Shari Grewell, the bride’s aunt, played the organ.
Parents of the bride are Leman and Penny Clark of Newcomerstown. Michael is the son of the late Lori Dent of Jacksonville, Fla.
Desiree Welch of Newcomerstown, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Amanda Lyons of Akron, O., friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. Mathew Dent of Piedmont, Ala., brother of the groom, served as best man. Shawn Parks of Newcomerstown, friend of the groom, was groomsman.
Flower girls were Jillian Welch of Newcomerstown, niece of the bride, and Jaelynn Mayo of Jackson, Fla., niece of the groom. Ringbearers were Jaxson Mayo of Newcomerstown, the couple’s son, and Adam Rilat of Jacksonville, Fla., nephew of the groom.
Guestbook attendants were Amanda Grewell of Newcomerstown and Emily Fender of New Bedford, O., cousins of the bride.
Given in marriage by her parents, Jamie carried out the tradition of an old-fashioned wedding wearing her sister’s A-line white strapless wedding dress as her “borrowed.” A teal sash was held at the waistline with a silver brooch for “something old” from her Grandmother Frieda Clark of Newcomerstown. A blue flower given by her sister was placed in her hair. Her garter was made by her aunt, Cheryl Porcher of Newcomerstown. A coin from her mother was in her garter.
A diamond tiara was Jamie’s “new” item.
The bride’s mother grew the flowers and made all of the arrangements. Cheryl Porcher and Marci Clarkston, friend of the couple, made decorations and mints and cakes for the reception. Cheryl Porcher also made Jaelynn’s dress and the ringbearer pillow. Angie Welch of Newcomerstown made Jillian’s dress.
The cake top was used by Jamie’s maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Grewell, in 1953; the bride’s parents, Leman and Penny Clark, Aug. 4, 1979; and the bride’s sister and husband, Desiree and Kris Welch, July 8, 2006.
The rehearsal dinner at the K L Welch Lake in Newcom-erstown was hosted by the groom.
The bride is a 2004 graduate of Newcomerstown High School and a 2008 graduate of Jacksonville Community College with an associate degree in office administration and is employed at Twin City Hospital. The groom is a 1999 graduate of Channel Islands High School of Oxnard, Calif. He is employed by Chalet in the Valley at Charm, O., as a chef.
The couple honeymooned at Hocking Hills and reside at 588 S. River St., Newcomerstown.
