Wedding – Pongrat-Shaw
Marilyn Y. Pongrat and Benjamin F. Shaw were married June 13, 2009, at the home of Greg and Shelley Poole of Mineral City, Ohio. David Koch officiated the 1:30 p.m. vows during a double-ring ceremony.
Marilyn is the daughter of the late Isador and Florence Hanni from Stone Creek, Ohio. Ben is the son of the late Benjamin and Sarah Shaw from New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Martyne McPherson of Newcomerstown, O., sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Richard Lawver of Dover, Ohio, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man.
Ben’s four daughters and their families, Shelley and Greg Poole of Mineral City, Mary Ann and Steve Mastnick of Massillon, Ohio, Cindy and John Rainsberger of Sugarcreek, Ohio, and Lisa and Todd Phillips of Dover hosted the wedding and reception along with Ben and Marilyn.
Ben’s daughters also hosted a rehearsal dinner Friday, June 12, 2009, in the home of Greg and Shelley Poole.
A 1955 graduate of Stone Creek High, Marilyn retired from General Telephone Co. in Dover with 35 years of service.
A 1957 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Ben retired from The Gradall Co. in 2000 with 40 years of service.
The couple have been friends since childhood.
Marilyn and Ben honeymooned at North Fort Myers, Fla. They reside at Dover and will spend time at their vacation home in Florida.
