Wedding – Dessecker-Welfley
Katera Dessecker and Jonathan “Dan” Welfley were married May 17, 2008, in First Christian Church at New Philadelphia, Ohio. Jim Borton officiated at the 3:30 p.m., double-ring ceremony.
Katera is the daughter of Rick and Kay Dessecker of 1208 E. 3rd St., Dover, Ohio. Dan is the son of Bill and Becky Welfley of 120 Angel Dr., Dover.
Sue Blickensderfer was organist and Micah Carrick was pianist. Both are of Dover. Scott Miller of New Philadelphia was vocalist.
The bride wore a pearl necklace and earrings, which were a gift from the groom. Her trumpet-style gown featured a sweetheart neckline with gold embroidery and crystal beading. She carried a handkerchief belonging to her aunt, Barb Miceli of Dover.
Kristen Dessecker, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miranda Dessecker, sister of the bride; Rachel Welfley, sister of the groom; Addy Hill, friend of the bride; and Abbie Patterson, cousin of the bride.
Jeremy Wilson, friend of the groom, served as best man. Escorts were Matthew Welfley and Ben Welfley, brothers of the groom, and Jordan Reiser and Phillip Hershberger, friends of the groom.
Olivia Andrews was flower girl and Conner Miceli was ringbearer.
Guestbook attendants were Conner and Caleb Frank.
The reception was held in the Wallick Center at Strasburg.
The groom’s parents, Bill and Becky Welfley, hosted a rehearsal dinner in The Pointe Cafe May 16.
An English major at Kent State, Katera will graduate in May 2010.
Dan is employed at Scott’s Process Systems in Hartville where he is a pipe welder.
The couple honeymooned at Hocking Hills where the groom proposed. They reside at 3600 Vicary Sq. NE, Apt. 3, Canton, O., 44714.
