Gene and Mary Brasel of Harrison, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Eagle Heights Baptist Church at 703 East Walters.
Mary Alice Mathis and Gene Brasel were married Oct. 10, 1952.
The couple has two children: Deborah Essary of Springfield, Mo., and Rick Brasel of Harrison.
They enjoy four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary Alice Brasel was born September 7, 1930, in Snowball.
She was the daughter of Ben and Maud (Weaver) Mathis.
She went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 7, 2013.
Visitation is Thursday, October 10 at Holt Memorial Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service is Friday, October 11, also at the Chapel, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Brashler officiating.
Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Brad Essary, Matthew Brasel, Tim DeHart, Don Mathes, Zachary Ibarra, and Jason Bryant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Austin DeHart, Isaac Essary, Aiden Essary, Dr. Tom Langston, and the Staff at Hospice of the Hills House.
Mary’s whole life was her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She attended Eagle Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Brasel; three brothers, Paul, Claude, and Ben Charles Mathis; and one sister, Helen Hamilton.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Deborah and Russ Essary; one son and his wife, Rick and Linda Brasel; four grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
