Wedding – Hughes-Stuart
Rachel Elizabeth Hughes and Charles William Stuart were united in marriage on Sept. 20, 2008, at St. John’s United Church of Christ at Dover, Ohio. Rev. Michael Lowry officiated the 4 p.m., double-ring ceremony.
Rachel is the daughter of Wes and Jodi Hughes of New Philadelphia, Ohio. Charles is the son of Jane Ludden Stuart of Liberty, N.Y., and Alexander C. Stuart of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The bride wore a white strapless, satin designer gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and floral embroidery and beadwork that decorated the bodice of the semi-cathedral train. She also wore a fingertip-length veil. Rachel wore diamond earrings which were a gift from the groom.
Michelle Brumfield of Anchorage, Alaska, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lynnsi McKain, friend of the bride; Kasi Hughes and Robyn Hughes, sisters-in-law of the bride, all of New Philadelphia; and Rachel Dummermuth and Maddie Dummermuth of Dover, friends of the bride.
Daren Smith of Atlantic City, N.J., friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Russell Stuart of Boston, Mass., James Stuart of Brooklyn, N.Y., brothers of the groom; Bryan Hughes and Scott Hughes of New Philadelphia, brothers of the bride; and Jake Dummermuth of Dover, friend of the bride.
Music was provided by Margery Burkhart, organist, and Bill and Cheryl Graham, guest accompanists.
Readers were Pam Anderson of Parma, Ohio, friend of the bride, and Tracy Ommundsen of Mastic, N.Y., cousin of the groom.
Flower girl was Kaitlyn Hughes of New Philadelphia, niece of the bride, and ringbearer was Matthew Dummermuth of Dover, friend of the bride. Matthew carried a ringbearer pillow made by the bride’s mother from material from her wedding dress.
Guestbook and program attendant was Ashley Ludden of Mastic, N.Y., cousin of the groom.
The reception was held at the Atwood Lake Resort and Conference Center in Sherrodsville, Ohio. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the Pro’s Table in New Philadelphia.
Rachel is a 1997 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and a 2003 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor of science in hospitality and business management. She is employed by Marriott International as a senior sales manager.
Charles is a 1994 graduate of Xavier High School in New York City and a 1998 graduate of Bentley College with a bachelor of science in management. He is employed by Hilton Hotels Corporation as a Hampton Inn brand manager.
The couple honeymooned in Miami followed by a cruise to Mexico. They are residing in Memphis, Tenn.
