Wedding - Miller-Wood
Karrie Lou Miller and Brandon James Wood were married Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. in First Congregational United Church of Christ in Asheville, N.C. Rev. George Walton officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
Karrie is the daughter of Kermit and Pam Miller of Walnut Creek, Ohio. Brandon is the son of Jim and Teresa Wood of Sanford, N.C.
Musicians were Ashley Porter of Lillington, N.C., pianist, and Danny and June Infantino of Southern Pines, N.C., guitarist and flutist/vocalist.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of pale lavender roses. She chose a designer gown of diamond white Alencon lace appliquéd to diamond white organza over light gold Italian matte satin. Her sweetheart neckline featured three small layered tiers of organza that began the design of the slim cut A-line gown with a corset back tie enclosure. The chapel-length train mimicked the front of the gown with tiers of organza. She wore a chapel-length, ivory mantilla veil.
Krystal Hoffman of Getzville, N.Y., and Korrine Miller of North Lewisburg, O., the bride’s sisters, were matron of honor and maid of honor, respectively. Bridesmaids were Janae Yoder of Dover, O., the bride’s friend, and Jennifer Smith of Sanford, the groom’s sister. They wore tea-length matte satin dresses in different shades of purple and carried hand-tied bouquets.
Jim Wood, the groom’s father, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jeremy Carver of Asheville, the groom’s friend; Scott Blakeley of Sanford, the groom’s cousin; and Alan Smith of Sanford, the groom’s brother-in-law.
The reception was held at The Crest Center in Asheville.
A rehearsal dinner was held Oct. 24, 2008, at The Fiddlin’ Pig in Asheville, hosted by the groom’s parents.
Wedding coordinators were Jill Gregory and Kay Sementelli of Houston, Texas, the bride’s friends.
Guestbook and program attendants were Jacob and Colton Smith of Sanford, the groom’s nephews.
Karrie, a 1996 Hiland High graduate, received a bachelor of science in geology and environmental science from Ashland University in 2000, and a master of science in geological sciences from the University of North Carolina in 2002. She is employed as a geologist at ExxonMobil in Melbourne, Australia.
Brandon, a 1995 graduate of Western Harnett High in Lillington, received a bachelor of science and master of science in geological sciences from the University of North Carolina in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He is employed as a geologist at Swift Energy in Houston.
After a honeymoon at St. Lucia and Antigua, Caribbean, the couple are residing at Houston, Texas, and Melbourne, Australia.
