Wedding - Tribby-Stein
Sarah Kathryn Tribby and Matthew John Stein were married April 12, 2008, at 6 p.m. in an outdoor ceremony on the terrace of The Atrium at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, Va., by Bishop Michael Carrol and Sub-Deacon Ken Warne of the St. Patrick Abbey.
Sarah is the daughter of Dale and Ann Tribby of Miles City, Mont. Matt is a son of Robert and Karen Stein of Dover, O., formerly of Herndon, Va. The bride’s grandmothers are Kathryn Tribby of Sturgis, S.D., and Verna Handley of Lead, S.D. The groom’s grandmother is Roberta VonAllmen of Dover.
Sarah Peterson of Miles City, Mont., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristin Mathison of Billings, Mont., Amber Schock of Miles City, Jaime Preston of Centreville, Va., and Jessica Sevila of Herndon. All are friends of the bride. Flower girls were Caroline and Isabelle Sevila.
Best man was Chris Preston of Centreville, Va. Groomsmen were Mark Stein of Denver, Colo., and TJ Stein of San Diego, Calif., brothers of the groom; Brad Tribby of Fort Peck, Mont., brother of the bride; and Jeff Sevila of Herndon, friend of the groom.
The bride was dressed in floor-length ivory satin and lace and wore a veil made by her mother. She “borrowed” a hankie made by the groom’s great-grandmother, Anna Waldron, and carried by the groom’s mother on her wedding day. The bride carried a bouquet of light pink peonies. The bridesmaids were attired in rose pink strapless tea-length dresses and carried pink tulips. The flower girls walked down the aisle ringing bells to announce the bride.
The reception followed the ceremony inside the botanical gardens where a beautiful stream and lush foliage intertwined the tables adorned with pink tulips and peonies. A toast was made with a gift the groom’s parents purchased in Germany. The pewter Nuremberg Bridal Cup has a legend that “whoever finishes their part of the drink first gets to rule the nest from here on.” To this day and to couples who drink from this chalice, it remains a symbol of love, faithfulness and good luck.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Historic Dranesville Tavern.
The couple honeymooned in the Alps of Switzerland at Murren.
Sarah is a 1999 graduate of Custer Country District High and a graduate of Hennepin (MN) Technical College with a degree in culinary arts. She is a legislative assistant in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
