Aundra Young and Clayton Yates United in Marriage
Aundra Paige Young and Clayton O’Neil Yates, both of De Queen, were united in marriage at four o’clock in the afternoon on the twenty first day of June, two thousand and eight at the Church of Christ in De Queen, Arkansas. Minister Paul Hillier officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Young of De Queen. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Woods of De Queen and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Young of Nashville, Arkansas.
The groom is the son of the late Harold Yates and the late Carol Ann Yates and the step-son of LaDonna Yates of De Queen. He is the grandson of Ms. Patsy Collins of De Queen.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a white satin mermaid gown with a double-banded sweetheart neckline and beaded metallic embroidery with a chapel-length train. She also wore a tall silver tiara with pearls and rhinestones with pearl and crystal hairpins throughout her hair. Her short white veil featured one tier with scattered pearls and rhinestones and a white satin ribbon edge. She carried a bouquet of 18 dark pink romantic roses with lily grass which was hand-tied with pearl accented ribbon and wrapped with a silver monogrammed rhinestone-trimmed satin handkerchief.
The bridesmaids were Kaylen Revels, maid of honor and longtime friend of the bride, of Fayetteville; Sarah Morphew, longtime friend of the bride, of De Queen; Lindsay Strasner, friend of the bride, of Texarkana; Neshia Marshall, friend of the bride and groom, of De Queen. The bridesmaids wore long crystal satin A-line dresses with empire waists, chiffon halters and back cascades. They carried bouquets of 12 dark pink romantic roses with lily grass which were hand-tied with dark pink satin ribbon.
The flower girls were Bailey Ward, friend of the bride, of De Queen and Lorel Morphew, friend of the bride, of De Queen. They wore long white dresses with empire waists with pearl clusters and pearl and crystal tiaras. They carried white satin and pearl flower girl baskets with dark pink romantic rose petals which they dropped on the custom monogrammed white aisle runner.
The groomsmen and ushers were P. J. Minor, longtime friend of the groom, of De Queen; Nicky Payne, friend of the groom, of Mountain Home; Clint Young, friend of the groom, of De Queen; Joey Rogers, friend of the groom, of De Queen; Alex Young, brother of the bride, of De Queen; Jared Riggs, cousin of the bride, of Nashville and Patrick Dean, cousin of the bride, of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The Bible bearer was Layne Woods, cousin of the bride, of De Queen. The ring bearer was Gage Woods, cousin of the bride, of De Queen.
The wedding planner was Ashley Riggs, cousin of the bride, of Nashville. The servers were Shelly Halter, aunt of the bride, of Sherwood; Keri Adkins, friend of the bride, of Little Rock; Alex House, friend of the groom, of Tulsa; Amber Kirkpatrick, friend of the groom, of De Queen; Lindsey Miller, friend of the bride and groom, of Fayetteville; Maribeth Revels, friend of the bride, of De Queen; Lindsey Riggs, cousin of the bride, of Nashville; Amanda Welsh, cousin of the bride, of Foley, Alabama and Allison Woods, aunt of the bride, of De Queen.
The guestbook attendant was Sharla Minor, friend of the bride and groom, of De Queen. The gift attendant was Kayla Kirkpatrick, friend of the groom, of De Queen.
A reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Church of Christ in De Queen. The bride and groom’s table featured a four-tiered white wedding cake with edible pearls and monogrammed lettering alternating on each layer. It was topped with dark pink romantic roses on each layer with the couple’s mirrored monogram topping the entire cake. It was displayed on a large silver pedestal. The groom’s cake was a two-tiered chocolate cake with a ducks unlimited duck head iced on the top and trimmed in chocolate bars and chocolate-covered strawberries. It was also displayed on a large silver pedestal. Cake and ice cream punch, sweet tea and lemonade were served along with a light buffet.
A Lingerie shower for the bride was hosted by Kaylen Revels, Sarah Morphew and Maribeth Revels on April 5, 2008 at the home of Sarah Morphew. The theme of the shower was “Diamonds” and the guests enjoyed monogrammed petit fours, chocolate-covered strawberries and various finger-foods.
A Wedding shower for the bride and groom was hosted on April 6, 2008 by the ladies of the Church of Christ in De Queen. The shower was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church of Christ in De Queen and coordinated with the selected wedding colors of dark pink and silver. The guests enjoyed a monogrammed cake with punch and finger-foods.
A Pampered Chef shower for the bride was hosted on May 18, 2008 by Melanie Marshall, Neshia Marshall, Janelle Barnes, Suzanne Greene, Charlotte Chadburn and Kay Duggan at the home of Melanie Marshall. The ladies enjoyed a wonderful demonstration of pampered chef products by Teresa Chandler followed by a light afternoon buffet.
A Rehearsal Dinner was hosted by Patsy Collins and LaDonna Yates with the assistance of several ladies of the Methodist Church on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Fellowship Hall of the Methodist Church of De Queen. Barbeque beef and pork sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and various cobblers with ice cream were served.
Guests blew bubbles and threw dark pink rose petals as the couple departed for a honeymoon in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They will reside in De Queen where the bride is a full-time student at SAU through CCCUA majoring in Early Childhood Education and is currently employed at the Church of Christ in De Queen and the groom is a Sevier County Deputy and a volunteer firefighter.
