Stevens - Butler
Sydney Preston Stevens and Kevin Todd Butler were united in marriage on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro. Dr. W. Kirk Allen, Jr. officiated. Wedding music was provided by Patrick Murphy, organist, and Karen Coker, soprano.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Greensboro Hilton. The rehearsal dinner was held on Friday evening at Cafe Pasta.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Stevens, Jr. of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Edwin Sidney Painter and the late Mr. Painter, and Mrs. Robert Hilgus Stevens and the late Mr. Stevens, both of Kingsport, Tennessee. She is a graduate of Walter Hines Page School and received a B.S. degree in Sociology-Communications from the College of Charleston. She is a self-employed television producer in Charleston, S.C.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Butler of Charleston, S.C. He is a graduate of Bishop England High School and received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston. He is a sales representative for Palmetto Lime Company in Charleston, S.C.
The bride was attended by her sisters, Sarah Bruce Stevens and Anne Painter Stevens, as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Teresa Butler Ashmore of Piedmont, S.C., sister of the groom; Mrs. Susan Lloyd Bauman of Charlotte; Mrs. Lollie Stuart Becton of Columbia, S.C.; Miss Keri Holmes of Charleston, S.C.; and Miss Brooke Palmer of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Beth Painter Holcomb and Miss Mary Catherine Painter of Calhoun, Ga., cousins of the bride.
The groom chose his brother, Mr. Robert Butler of Cross, S.C. as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. A.W. (Skip) Butler, Jr., cousin of the groom, of Charleston, S.C.; Mr. Steven Hudgins, Mr. Hohns Rodden, and Mr. Dirk Snipes, all of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Following a cruise to the islands of the Caribbean, the couple will reside on Seabrook Island, S.C.
