Nelson - Raines
Kari Michelle Nelson and Gary Arthur Raines III were united in marriage Saturday, October 9, 1999 at Sedgefield Baptist Church. The Reverend Ron Smith officiated. Following the ceremony, the reception was held at Castle McCulloch. On Friday evening, the rehearsal dinner was held at the Pepper Mill.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Nelson of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mitchell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Nelson. She is a graduate of Southern Guilford High School and received an A.A.S. in Microcomputer Systems Technology from GTCC. She is a Technical Support Representative with Credit Bureau Mortgage Services.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Donna Waldron and Mr. Gary A. Raines, Jr., both of Hickory, NC. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Eloise Abernethy and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Raines. He is a graduate of East Burke High School and received a BS in Economics from NC State University. He is a Loan Originator with First Union Corporation.
The bride was attended by her sister, Kristy Nelson of Greensboro, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Varner of Greensboro, cousin of the bride, and Crystal Sowder of Greensboro. The honorary bridesmaids were the sisters of the groom, Deidra Hileman, Shelley Raines and Leslee Raines, all of Hickory.
The groom chose his father, Gary A. Raines, Jr., as best man. Groomsmen were Steve Jones of Mebane, NC and Hunter Cardwell of Greensboro. The honorary groomsman Lance Raines of Hickory, brother of the groom.
Following a wedding trip to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Garner, NC.
