Franklin 50th wedding anniversary
Bennie Franklin Jr. and Nancy Brewer Franklin celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today.
They were married on May 24, 1963, at Nancy's parents' home where her father, the late Rev. E.N. Brewer, officiated the marriage.
They have three children: Craig Franklin and his wife Wanda Franklin of Conyers; Bennie Al Franklin and his wife Judee Franklin of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and Pamela Franklin Sims and her husband Lamar Sims of Conyers.
They have seven grandchildren: Tamicca Gilmer and her husband Damion Gilmer of Conyers; Likash Franklin, Crandalyn Franklin and Craig Franklin Jr., all of Conyers; Tavarus Franklin and his wife Rie Franklin of Yokosuka-Shi Kanagawa, Japan; Dexter Sims of Conyers and Aolanee Franklin of Ewa Beach.
They have six great-grandchildren: Amaya, Aiden, Dequan and Aleah Gilmer, all of Conyers; A'Sha Bomer of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Autumn Franklin of Conyers.
Nancy has lived in Conyers all of her life, while Bennie has lived in Conyers for the past 53 years. The Franklins are both retired.
Besides spending time in Nancy's flower garden and Bennie's vegetable garden, the Franklins love spending time with their great-grandchildren, who live next door.
They also love attending their churches, Peek's Chapel Baptist and Springfield Baptist Church, both in Conyers.
The couple has traveled to several places during their 50 years of marriage, including Hawaii, the Bahamas, Mexico, California, Michigan and Canada.
