Muench - Smith
SIKESTON - Amy Muench and Shane Smith exchanged wedding vows in a 6 p.m. ceremony April 28, 2001, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sikeston before the Rev. Ken Yerkes. Scripture was read by Alex Norton.
Each window of the church sanctuary was decorated with flowers and candles, and ferns were placed on either side of the altar. The bride's mother designed the floral centerpiece for the altar.
The bride is the daughter of Carl and Marie Muench of Sikeston and the bridegroom is the son of Sharon and Melvin Monroe of Forsyth.
Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Harry Howard and guitarist Bobby Young.
Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a sleeveless ivory satin gown which featured a scoop neckline and fitted bodice. The skirt of the ball gown-style creation featured white satin ribbon about mid-leg length with rum roses at the crests on the ribbon. The back of the dress was low cut, complemented with a bouquet of rum roses with long streamers and rum roses at the ends. Rum roses were scattered in various places along the medium-length train and her shoulder-length veil was secured with a beaded and flowered head piece. Purple roses, irises and stargazer lilies comprised the bridal bouquet.
Lynda Muench of Sikeston attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Pattie Dobbs of Clarksville, Tenn., sister of the bride and Lelicia Martin of Sikeston, friend of the bride. They wore sleeveless purple dresses and carried iris bouquets.
Flower girl Alexis Martin of Sikeston, friend of the bride, wore a white ballerina-length dress which was accented with beads and satin ribbon.
Chris Ray of Sikeston served the bridegroom as best man and groomsmen were Doug Dobbs of Clarksville and Ryan Payne of Sikeston.
The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with tails, complemented with a white vest and tie and the men in the wedding party wore black tuxedos with black tie and vest. Each wore a purple boutonniere.
David Norton served the couple as candlelighter. Tessa Mathaney attended the guest book.
A reception and dance were held at the Semo Shrine Club in Sikeston, where guests were served by Beverly Keefer, Sarah Keefer and Tom and Laurie Bridger. Lynn Feeler coordinated the decorations and food.
Ferns and lights adorned the archway behind the four-layer offset wedding cake, which was decorated with roses, irises and lilies. Hurricane lamps filled with water were placed on the tables, each featuring a beta fish and floating candles.
The couple went to Gatlinburg, Tenn., for their honeymoon and now reside in Sikeston.
