Banken - Noles
DEXTER - Leslie Ann Banken and Tevis A. Noles III were united in marriage July 7, 2001, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The 3 p.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. John Sheley, pastor. Special readings by Kenny and Debbie Essner of Dexter, friends of the family, were presented during the ceremony.
The sanctuary was set with bouquets of larkspur, hydrangea, Japanese mums, lisianthus and iris which were placed on the altar, flanked with a pair of spiraling candelabras filled with fresh ferns. A unity candle was placed at the center of the altar. The aisle was adorned with brass candelabras attached to the pews accented with plumose rope and finished with satin and tulle ribbons. The windows were filled with star-gazer lilies and fresh ferns, complemented with tulle ribbons.
Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. John Banken of Dexter. The bride is the granddaughter of Mabel Ferguson of Dexter and Peter Tandski of Huntington, W.Va.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tevis Noles II of Sikeston and grandson of Alpha Plunk and Mary Noles of Sikeston.
Music was provided by Mary Ruth Boone as she accompanied vocalists Lisa Pulley and Tara Cooper of Bloomfield. Songs included "I Need You," "The Rose" and "There is Love." Jay Roberts of Dexter also played the trumpet for the bride's entrance song, "Trumpet Voluntary" and for the recessional.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of soft ivory matte satin by St. Patrick. The corseted off-the-shoulder bodice was trimmed with iridescent bugle beads and adorned with small two-tone embroidered flowers of rose and mauve with a hint of olive green stem and leaves. The A-line skirt, trimmed in embroidered flowers around the bottom, had an old-fashioned carriage-back cathedral-length train which was accented with a bouquet of satin flowers as it formed a bustle in the back. Her grand floral tiara, which featured light and dark crystal accents and aurora boreale stones, held an ivory cathedral-length veil which was attached at the back. She carried a colonial design bouquet of pink calla lilies, purple lisianthus, white spray roses, stargazer lilies, blue bird roses, caspie and lavender hydrangea.
Jennifer Frey of Cape Girardeau served her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kristi Banken of Dexter, sister-in-law of the bride, Sarah Wright of Chicago, Ill., cousin of the bride, Nicki Noles of Sikeston, sister of the bridegroom and Bonnie Howard of Searcy, Ark., friend of the bride.
They wore two-piece rose satin ensembles featuring a bateau neckline with a V-back and A-line skirt. The empire waist seam featured matching bugle bead trim. They carried smaller versions of the bride's bouquet.
Flower girls Kalee Howard of Searcy, friend of the bride and Emma Barber of Sikeston, cousin of the bridegroom, wore tea-length ivory dresses with tulle overlay which featured rose petals in the hem. Their hair was worn up with a halo of baby's breath.
Wade Lawrence of Sikeston, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Groomsmen were Adam Kineman of Sikeston, friend of the bridegroom, Jason Banken and Lance Banken, brothers of the bride, Charles Stokes of New Madrid and Richard Johnson of Sikeston, friends of the bridegroom. Ushers were Kent Essner of Jefferson City, friend of the bride, and Brennan McMillen of Las Vegas, Nev., friend of the bridegroom. Ring bearer was Myles Urhahn, friend of the bride.
The men in the wedding party wore single-breasted tuxedos by Ralph Lauren with black satin Windsor tie and black patterned vests. Their boutonnieres were of blue bird roses and mauve freesia.
Candlelighters were Suzanne Wright of Springfield, Ill., and Amy Banken of Cape Girardeau, cousins of the bride, who wore satin sleeveless dresses with jewel necklines. The long slim skirts were accented with back slits.
Samantha Barber of Sikeston attended the guest book at a lace-covered table, placed in the entry of the church. The table was decorated with a bouquet of lavender hydrangea, white spray roses, calla lilies and purple lisianthus.
Heather Snider, cousin of the bride and Andrea Essner, friend of the bride, both of Dexter, greeted and distributed programs to the guests.
Ceremony coordinators were Patricia Blair and Rosemarie Young of Dexter, friends of the family.
The mother of the bride wore a mink color floor-length two-piece dress and the bridegroom's mother chose a cream color floor-length two-piece dress. Corsages of blue bird roses and mauve freesia accented with baby's breath were worn by the mothers and grandmothers of the couple.
Floor-length cloths adorned the tables at the reception at the Elks Lodge in Dexter where fresh arrangements and 24-inch tapers decorated each table. The bride's portrait was displayed at the entrance which included white columns and greenery. The wedding cake was placed under a gazebo canopy of white tulle, white lights and ivy trailing throughout.
Lighted columns were placed around the reception hall topped with large greenery arrangements. The cake was decorated with blue bird roses, star gazer lilies, bouvardia and baby's breath. Guests were served by Nicole Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., Mendy Griffin of St. Louis and Andrea Assner and Heather Snider of Dexter, friends of the bride.
The elevated head table was draped with plumose rope greenery and decorated with brass candelabras. Featured on the food table, decorated by the Elks Lodge, were a large ice sculpture by Mark Dirnberger and chocolate sculptures by Andy Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, friends of the family.
Reception hosts were Ronnie and Sheila LeGrand of Dexter, friends of the family and the Mud Puppies Band of Cape Girardeau provided the music. Wedding coordinator was Greg Banken, of Gregory's Creations and cousin of the bride.
Photography was done by Joe Craig and videographers were Earl Young and Ronnie LeGrand of Dexter, friends of the family.
A rehearsal dinner provided by the bridegroom's family was held July 6 at the Hickory Log Restaurant in Dexter.
Following a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, the new Mr. and Mrs. Noles are residing in Cape Girardeau.
