Sander - Essner
COMMERCE - Emily Joy Sander and Jamie William Essner exchanged vows on June 9, 2001, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. The Rev. Normand Varone performed the double-ring ceremony with the Rev. James Seyer and the Rev. Al Hoering serving as concelebrants. Servers for the ceremony were Ryan Essner, Zachary Essner and Trent Ray.
The new Mrs. Essner is the daughter of Scott and Debra Sander of Commerce and her husband is the son of Paul and Geneva Essner of Benton.
Music was provided by Karen Seiler of Benton and soloists Sissy Burnett of Jackson and Jimmy Simmons of Benton.
Brittany Lambert of Benton attended her cousin as maid of honor and bridesmaids were Jamie Sander of Commerce and Christina Sander of St. Louis, sisters-in-law of the bride, and Heather DeWitt of Sikeston, friend of the bride. Flower girls were Whitney Harper, daughter of Ricky and Sheila Harper of Benton and niece of the bridegroom; and Madison Sander, daughter of Derrick Sander and Dusty Steirs of Commerce and cousin of the bride.
Jeff Essner of Benton, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mitchell Sander of Commerce and Matthew Sander of St. Louis, brothers of the bride and Jason Seyer of Florida, cousin of the bridegroom. Brian Heuring, Jamie Proctor and Justin Vetter attended their friend as ushers. Ringbearer Ross Essner is the nephew of the bridegroom and son of Ronnie and Laura Essner of Benton.
Program attendants were Ashley Sullivan and Christian Essner, niece and nephew of the bridegroom and flowers were distributed by Cathy Ray and Paula Bertrand, aunts of the bride, and Theresa Essner, sister of the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony, a reception, dinner and dance were held at the St. Lawrence Parish Center. Cake was served to guests by Carolyn Essner and Cheryl Essner, sisters-in-law of the bridegroom and Sherre Simmons, aunt of the bride. Diamond Sound System provided music for the celebration.
Parents of the bride and bridegroom hosted a rehearsal dinner June 8 at the parish center, which was catered by Ziegler's.
A 1999 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, the bride is pursuing a degree in early childhood education from Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau. She is employed by S&L; Builders.
The bridegroom graduated in 1997 from Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau and is employed by Steward Steel in Sikeston.
After a wedding trip to Destin, Fla., the couple is residing in Commerce.
