COURTLAND — Meredith Carter Edwards and William Leland Holt were united in marriage on Aug. 2, 2009 at Courtland United Methodist Church in Courtland.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Edwards of Branchville.
She is the maternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norwood Ezzell of Mount Olive, N.C. and the paternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Edwards of Branchville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Bryant Holt Jr. of Franklin.
He is the maternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Henry Runde of Kieler, Wis. and the paternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Bryant Holt Sr. of Lugoff, S.C.
The Rev. Michael Baugham, pastor of Branchville United Methodist Church, officiated the double ring ceremony and the Rev. Richard Gordon assisted with a word of prayer.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Tavia Edwards Cavallaro of Castle Hayne, N.C. and Emily Edwards Brown of Branchville, sisters of the bride served as matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Helen Lucia Burnette of Newport News, Shannon Rose Edwards of Poquoson, Christen Marie DuChemin of Newport News, and Megan Church Rainey of Newsoms, all friends of the bride.
The flower girl was Madelyn Clare Brown, niece of the bride.
Fenton Bryant Holt Jr., father of the groom, and Fenton Bryant Holt III, brother of the groom, served as best men.
Groomsmen were William Adrian Brown of Branchville, Michael David Brown of Courtland, Joshua Carl Horn of Atlanta, Ga., and Hudson Dean Bryant of Franklin, all friends of the groom.
Ushers were Mark Allen Partridge of Tallahassee, Fla., cousin of the bride, and Patrick Joseph Cavallario of Cortland, N.Y., friend of the groom.
Cindy Ezzell Bell, aunt of the bride, was the mistress of ceremony. Bea Ezzell Odom, aunt of the bride, and Carrie Bell, cousin of the bride, assisted.
Christy Fekete Fowler, friend of the couple, attended the guest register.
Maggie Mae Runde, cousin of the groom, and Ann Jackson Edwards, cousin of the bride, were program attendants.
Organist Hal Whitley provided a program of traditional wedding music.
Molly Mann provided a musical interlude on the harp following the seating of the mothers.
Soloist Drew Dunn sang “Lost In This Moment” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
June Holt Maron, aunt of the groom, read Corinthians 13:4-13.
Following the ceremony the couple and guests were entertained with a reception at the Paul D. Camp Workforce Development Center in Franklin.
Music was provided by L.F. and The First Class Band of Pouquoson.
Gwen Overby of Franklin Garden Center designed the floral arrangements used in the church, the bride’s bouquet, bridesmaids’ flowers and the boutonnieres worn by the groomsmen.
The reception hall was decorated by friends and family of the couple.
Following a honeymoon cruise and trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Newport News.
