Hamilton Anniversary
Jessie and John "Jack" Hamilton, of 2447 S. Donna Ave., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a party held July 2, 2000 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1763, 2485 E. 14th St.
Hosting the event were John Hamilton Jr. and his wife, Lynette. Some 50 local guests attended.
The anniversary couple are the parents of John Jr. of Yuma; Judie Clark of Canton, Ohio; Sue Reed of Kane, Pa.; and Faye Donovan of Hurlock, Md.
There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Hamilton is the former Jessie Burleson of Holtville, Calif.
Her husband is from Pleasant, Texas.
They married Sept. 1, 1950, in the First Methodist Church in Yuma, and have lived in this area about 65 years.
Hamilton is affiliated with Yuma Mesa Irrigation and Drainage District.

[Obituary of John "Jack" Hamilton: "John “Jack” Hamilton
John “Jack” Hamilton, 76, passed away September 11, 2003 in Yuma. He was born August 8, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Jack was a graduate of Yuma High School, and also attended Arizona Western College. He served in the US Army from 1946-1948. For his service in the Army he received the WWII Victory medal and the Army of Occupation medal. Jack also spent 40 years as a ditch rider starting in the Wellton-Mohawk area, and then retiring in 1989 from Yuma Mesa Irrigation and Drainage District. He was active in Yuma area veterans activities, and was a Life member of VFW Post 1763, where he served as Sr. Vice Commander. Jack was also a blood donor for 15 years and was a volunteer at La Mesa Rehabilitation. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Jessie Lee Hamilton, of Yuma; son, John (Lynette) Hamilton, Jr., of Yuma; daughters, Judith (Jeff) Clark, of Canton, Ohio, Sue (the late Milford) Reed, of Kane, Pennsylvania, and Jessie Faye (Ed) Donovan, of Hurlock, Maryland; and brother Paul Hamilton, of Roswell, New Mexico. He is also survived by five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Callie Parr; son, Thomas James Hamilton; sisters, Bonnie Hamilton, Charlye Erwin, and Dixie Howard; and brother, Bob Hamilton. Visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary, Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from 6:00-7:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at 10:00am. Reverend Darren Hawkins of Sierra Vita Presbyterian Church will officiate the service. Jack’s final resting place will be Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Charles Kimbal, Rex Oare, Frank Collins, Jeffrey Clark, Edward Donovan, and Benny Orta. Honorary Bearers will be: Gene Dewhirst, Thomas Cole, Fred Reese, and Orvel Dewhirst."]
