She is the daughter of Gordon and Ruth Peterson of Janesville, Calif.

Peterson graduated from Northern Arizona University-Yuma and is employed part-time at Arizona Western College and NAU-Yuma.
Her fiance, a graduate of Yuma High School, is employed at AWC.
