Garlands married 50 years

J.C. and Frances L. (Dries) Garland of Maryville are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.
Helen and Bud Starling, Mrs. Garland's sister and brother-in-law, will take the couple out for dinner at their favorite restaurant.
The couple were married July 15, 1954 at First Baptist Church, North Miami Beach, Fla.
W.R. Smith officiated.
Mr. Garland was born in Townsend and has five brothers and five sisters living in the area.
Mr. Garland was employed at McAruther Dairies in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and retired in 1990.
He enjoys working in the garden.
