Blevenses celebrate 61st anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Sam (Maxie Everett) Blevens of Maryville celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary April 30 with a special family lunch hosted by their children and grandchildren.
The couple have made their home on Old Niles Ferry Pike since they were married.
Mr. and Mrs. Blevens were married in 1942 at the home of the Rev. J.O. Hood in Wildwood.
Their family includes two sons, Mike Blevens of Maryville and Dan Blevens of Walland.
They have four granddaughters, Kim (Mrs. Ross) Eriksson of Birmingham, Dr. Kara Blevens of Charleston, S.C., Katie Blevens of Johnson City and Sara Blevens of Maryville.
Mr. Blevens was principal at Eagleton Elementary School for 29 years.
Mrs. Blevens was a longtime physical education teacher at Everett High School.
Both retired from teaching in 1976.
