Hoglens observe 50th anniversary
Wilburn C. and Betty (Miller) Hoglen of Maryville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 16 with a dinner at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Dean Hoglen, in Baton Rouge.
The couple were married Aug. 15, 1953 at Everett Hills Baptist Church.
The late Rev. J. Burch Cooper officiated.
Their family includes two sons, David Hoglen and family of Brussels, Belgium, where they serve as missionaries, and Dean Hoglen, a chemist for Segenta Corporation, and his family of Baton Rouge.
They have three granddaughters in Belgium and a grandson in Baton Rouge.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoglen are graduates of Carson-Newman College and were missionaries with the International Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, in Venezuela and Paraguay.
They are now retired.
They are members of First Baptist Church, Maryville, where both teach Sunday School and are active in Golden Agers.
Mr. Hoglen also belongs to the Smoky Mountain Radio Club.
