Boerner - Younger
Mary Ward Younger and Christian Frederick Boerner were married on Saturday, October 20, 2007, at the Lighthouse Grounds on Bald Head Island at five o'clock in the afternoon. Pastor Donald Overman officiated. A reception followed at the Bald Head Island Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles William Younger of Raleigh, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Burrell Clarence Boyles, Jr. of Burlington, the late Mr. Boyles, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Osborne Younger of Gibsonville. The groom is the son of Ms. Mary Geils Boerner and Dr. and Mrs. David Franklin Boerner of Raleigh, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roswell Wisinger Geils of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Franklin Boerner of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Louise Middleton Shepherd of Garner. The matron of honor was Emily Younger Wells of Raleigh, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jordan Gray Cole, Mary Holt Fickes, and Callaway Collins McKay of Raleigh; Caroline Westray Bethune of Washington, D.C.; Kristen Michelle Ford of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Nicole Renee Harnish of San Diego, California; and Karen Leigh Key of Los Angeles, California. Junior bridesmaid was Zoe Leialohaokaleolani Harnish of San Diego, cousin of the groom. The best man was Michael David Boerner of Hixson, Tennessee, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Matthew Gordon Douglas, Bryan Hiroshi Fujimoto, and Nicholas Michael Slaton of Raleigh; Chris William Haaf of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Iajhi Brendt Hampden of North Hollywood, California; Reno Leon Harnish, IV of San Diego, California; and Seth Adam Herschthal of Asheville. Ring bearer was Logan Harvey Wells of Raleigh, nephew of the bride. Greeters were Blair Cunningham Goad and Kimberly Erin Maness of Raleigh, and Jeanne LaRoque Jolly of West Hollywood, California. Reader was poet Shirlette Ammons. Music was provided by Dr. Elliot Frank guitarist, Dr. Robert Gordon Jeffers soloist and John Erwin Ramsay, Jr. The bride and groom are graduates of Needham B. Broughton High School. Mary Ward received her Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University and is employed by Metro Magazine. Chris received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University and is a musician. The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner party on Friday night for the wedding guests at the Shoals Club on Bald Head Island. The couple honeymooned in Barcelona and will reside in Raleigh.
