Gwynn anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. G. Richard Gwynn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2006, at the historic Yancey House Restaurant in Yanceyville.
Their children are Brenda Gwynn Neal and husband, Dr. Joe Neal, of Cary, Cindy Gwynn Schrodt and husband, Stewart, of Yanceyville, and John Gwynn and wife, Martha, of Raleigh.
Their grandchildren are Lydia and Marie Neal, Spencer and Prissy Schrodt, and Ayden Gwynn.
They were married June 3, 1956, in Providence.

[Obituary of Dr. George Richard Gwynn: "Dr. George Richard Gwynn, 82, of 80 Boy Scout Camp Rd, Yanceyville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2013 after a brief decline in health. Dr. Gwynn was born in Caswell County on June 5, 1930 a son of the late Joseph Daniel Gwynn & Ruby Wharf Gwynn. He was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1948. Dr. Gwynn received his B.S. and Master’s Degree from North Carolina State and his PhD from Iowa State University He had lived most of his working career in Oxford, NC prior to moving back to Yanceyville to live for the past 10 years. Dr. Gwynn had retired from the U.S.D.A. Oxford Tobacco Research Station where he specialized in developing disease resistant varieties of Tobacco. He was the Adjunct Professor of Crop Science at North Carolina State University. Dr. Gwynn continued to work as a consultant with numerous Tobacco Companies and seed producers and raised Beef Cattle. He was a member of the North Carolina and Caswell County Cattleman’s Association. Dr. Gwynn served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church where he was very active as long as his health permitted. On June 3, 1956 Dr. Gwynn married Peggy Sykes Gwynn who survives at the residence. He is also survived by two daughters Brenda Carol Larson & husband Lee of Sanford, NC, Cynthia Ann Schrodt & husband Stuart of Yanceyville, NC, one son John Littleton Gwynn & wife Martha of Raleigh, NC, one sister Marie Gwynn of Yanceyville, NC, one brother Dr. William “Bill” Gwynn & wife Jean of Hickory, NC, five grandchildren Spencer Schrodt, Priscilla Schrodt, Lydia Neal, Marie Neal, Ayden Gwynn & 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother Joseph Daniel Gwynn Jr. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Prospect United Methodist Church by the Reverend Pam Gilliam. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. A Private Interment will be conducted in the Gwynn Family Cemetery. The family suggest that in Lieu of Flowers Memorial Gifts be made to Prospect United Methodist Church, 1900 U.S. Hwy. 158 West Yanceyville, NC 27379.
