Scott - Crampton

Anna Madison Crampton and William Jackson Scott III of Charlotte were married on June 10, 2006, at half after six in the evening at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The Reverend Samuel Gregory Jones officiated. A reception followed at the Carolina Country Club. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Byrd Crampton of Raleigh, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Edgar DeWees Baker, the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Edwin Crampton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Harmon Usry, all of Raleigh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Scott, Jr. of Charlotte, and the grandson of Mrs. William Dewey Beck of Lexington and the late Mr. Beck, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Scott of High Point. Sisters of the bride, Louisa Crampton Fisher and Mary Elizabeth Crampton Purdy, served as matrons of honor. The bridesmaids were Margaret Carter Scott of New York, New York, sister of the groom; Henriette Dargan Williams-Alexander of Chapel Hill; Jill Marie Bailey of Charlottesville, Virginia; Jeanne Upchurch de Laureal of New Orleans, Louisiana; Katherine Ross Shain of Charlotte; May Harrison White of Columbia, South Carolina; and Ruth Hill Yeilding of Birmingham, Alabama. Martha Amelia Fisher, niece of the bride, was the flower girl.Mr. William Jackson Scott, Jr. served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were David Albert Dasher of Durham, Cameron Stacy Golden of Chapel Hill, Joseph Turner Seale of Norfolk, Virginia, Matthew Lee Williams of San Francisco, California, and Edgar Beauregarde Fisher III, Brian Summers Jones, Jonathan Stewart Liles, Steven Lewis Purdy, and Andrew Glenn Williamson, all of Charlotte. Edgar Beauregarde Fisher IV, Alfred Maxwell Purdy, and Gregory Lewis Purdy, nephews of the bride, were ring bearers. Lindsay Hawfield Jones of Charlotte and Amanda Haynes Neely of Durham were greeters at the church. James Bradley Hyler of New York, New York, and Patrick Fallon Gocke of Raleigh were readers during the ceremony. Jennifer Smith Moran was the soloist. Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Kevin Kerstetter and trumpeter Dennis De Jong. The bride graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She works in recruiting at Bank of America. The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He works in advertising at The Charlotte Observer. Following a honeymoon trip to Turks and Caicos, the couple will reside in Charlotte.
