Holley anniversary
Colonel (Retired) and Mrs. Roy L. Holley of Raleigh celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary April 20, 2006.
They marked the occasion with a family dinner at the Angus Barn on April 21, 2006.
Joining them for the celebration were their children Marc and Oppie Holley of Austin, Texas; Vince and Becky Townsend of Kernersville; Robin Holley of Cary and their grandchildren Siegfried and KelliAnne Holley of Houston, Texas; Owen Holley of Austin, Texas; Katelyn, Tim, and Kyle Townsend of Kernersville.
Roy and Odelle were married on April 20, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Brewton, Alabama.
Their devotion to family and their Christian faith are built upon a strong foundation of love, earning admiration from all who know them.

[Obituary of Roy Holley: "Roy Lamar Holley - June 1, 1919 – December 19, 2016 - Roy Lamar Holley, 97, was welcomed into Heaven from this world on Monday, December 19, 2016. He was a man who devoted his life to his family, friends, faith in God, and in service to his country. He was born in Samson, AL on June 1, 1919 to Hosea Vervee Holley and Alma Pearl Phillips Holley. He graduated from the University of Texas and George Washington University. Roy retired from the US Air Force after 30 years of military service. He was a member of "The Greatest Generation" and one of the few remaining WWII veterans. He went to work for the State of NC in 1967 and then NC State University. Roy was extremely service oriented. He was involved in St. Mark's United Methodist Church over the years in many positions, including Sunday school teacher, usher, board member, and more. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, having served as President of the Golden K. Roy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Odelle Jordan Holley; children, Marcus Holley and wife, Oppie, Rebecca Holley Townsend and husband, Vincent, and Robin Holley; grandchildren, Siegfried and Owen Holley, Katelyn Armfield and husband, Will, and Tim and Kyle Townsend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Merle Gentry and brother, Charles Holley. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 23, 2016 starting at 10am at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, with a funeral service following at 11am. Burial with military honors will be held afterward at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice."]
