Speight - Knoop

Ashley Lauren Knoop and Erik Lee Speight were married on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the Matthews House in Cary. Reverend William E. Scott officiated in the garden ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. Douglas Knoop of Raleigh, and granddaughter of Mrs. Maxine Cruthers of Winston-Salem and the late Cecil F. Cruthers, and of the late Mr. and Mrs. William C. Knoop of Louisville, Kentucky. The groom is the son of Mr. Buddy Speight of Raleigh and Mrs. Karen Cominsky of Horn Lake, Mississippi. He is the grandson of Mrs. Juanita Chase of Pinellas Park, Florida, Mr. Keilon Bratcher of Dade City, Florida, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Grady Speight also of Florida. The maid of honor was Elise Nicole Tortora of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a best friend and former college roommate of the bride. Other bridal attendants were Patricia Keeton Crowder, Ashlin Barrett Hube, and Anna Elizabeth Kustra, all of Raleigh, and Elizabeth Robins Frost of Winston-Salem. The best man was Mr. Buddy Speight, father of the groom. Additional groomsmen were Brian David Speight, Kevin Jeffrey Smith, and Christopher Len James, all of Raleigh, and Kevin Jon Cominsky of Memphis, Tennessee. Wedding director was Barbara Clark of An Elegant Affair. Solo guitarist Julius Carrasco played a selection of classical music for the ceremony and the cocktail hour. The EnRoute Jazz ensemble provided entertainment for the reception which also was held at the Matthews House. The bride graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Psychology. The groom attended North Carolina State University. After a honeymoon trip to Turks and Caicos Islands, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
