Dr. Sallie Grist Mitchell and Dr. Alex Michael Wahl were married April 22, 2006, at noon in Goldsboro. The Reverend Eugene M. Carpenter officiated at the ceremony at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Earl Mitchell of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Edward Mitchell, and the late Ms. Mary Faircloth Mitchell of Goldsboro, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Fowle Bowers of Elizabeth City.Parents of the groom are Mr. Dale Eldon Wahl of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Susan Roehrig Barcellino of Naples, Florida. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Purney Anderson Wahl of Evans City, Pennsylvania, and Mr. Charles Robert Roehrig of Ligonier and the late Mrs. Hazel Roehrig. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. Caroline Bowers Mitchell, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The best man was Steven Patrick Wahl, brother of the groom. The ushers were William Brock Mitchell, brother of the bride, and Dr. Glenn Arthur Klaus. The bride graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a Doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 1996, she was presented by the Terpsichorean Club at the North Carolina Debutante Ball. The groom graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and received a Doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After a honeymoon trip, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
