Kiehm - Snead
Ashley Eleanor Snead and Matthew John Kiehm of Raleigh were married Saturday, August 21, 2004, at five o'clock in the afternoon at Edenton Street United Methodist Church. Reverend Katherine R. Johnson officiated the double-ring ceremony. After the ceremony, a dinner-dance, hosted by the bride's parents and the bridal couple, was held at the Marriott Crabtree Hotel. The bridal couple and their attendants traveled from the church to the reception on the Raleigh trolley.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Everette Snead of Laurinburg. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Franklin Leroy Marks of Laurinburg and the late Mr. Marks, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Snead.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. John Kiehm of Whitesboro, New York. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gaylord Dalen Salhus of Woodbridge, Virginia, and the late Mr. Salhus, Mr. and Mrs. John Charles Kiehm of Utica, New York, and the late Mrs. Helen Nelson Kiehm.
The bride's formal gown of ivory matte satin featured a strapless bodice adorned with seed pearls and satin embroidery and a full skirt ending in a cathedral train. A wide sash attached at the back waist was trimmed with bands of embroidery and seed pearls to match the bodice. Her fingertip veil was a double layer of satin-edged imported silk illusion. Her pearl necklace and earrings were gifts from the groom. The silver sixpence in her shoe was also worn by her mother and sister in their weddings. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of Versillia roses and Queen Anne's Lace.
Mrs. Robin Snead Oswald of Laurinburg, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Kerstin Spranger Ducatte of Raleigh; Miss Elizabeth Brooke Jenkins of Chapel Hill; Miss Lauren Elizabeth Kiehm of Cary, sister of the groom; and Mrs. Angela Griffie Reese of Charlotte. They wore two-piece a-line dresses in celadon green matte satin. The bodice was designed with spaghetti straps and accented with a band of tiny beaded flowers. They carried hand-tied bouquets of hybrid green hydrangeas and Versillia roses.
Mr. Christopher David Nowak of Quincy, Massachusetts, served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Brandon Edward Davis of Utica, New York, Mr. Barry Ross Ducatte of Raleigh, Mr. Jeremy Michael Hartman of Boston, Massachusetts, and Mr. Anthony Joseph Pellegrino of Cary.
Mrs. Kristen Kiehm Wojcik of Otter Lake, New York, sister of the groom read The Irish Wedding Blessing.
Organist Dr. William Weisser of Raleigh, and vocalist Mrs. Karen Gibson Jenkins of Laurinburg provided music.
The bride honored her bridesmaids and vocalist at a noon luncheon on August 20, 2004, at Michael Dean's Restaurant. A poolside dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at the Marriott Crabtree Hotel on Friday evening following the rehearsal.
The bride is a graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She is employed as an account manager with Giftmaker in Raleigh.
The groom graduated from The State University of New York at Utica. He is an independent agent for Pennsylvania Life Insurance Company.
After their honeymoon trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple will live in Raleigh.
