Cheatwood - Hamner
Julia Diane Hamner and David Lynn Cheatwood were married on August 28, 2004 on Figure Eight Island in Wilmington. The Reverend Craig Kocher, Acting Dean of Duke Chapel, officiated. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Figure Eight Island Yacht Club.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Freeman Paulson of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clayton Hamner of Chapel Hill. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Walter Clayton Hamner of Augusta, Georgia, and the late Mr. Hamner, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edmund Panza, formerly of Boston, Massachusetts.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hoyt Cheatwood of Fayetteville. He is the grandson of Mr. Joseph Hoyt Cheatwood of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and the late Mrs. Cheatwood, and the late Major General and Mrs. Andrew Jay Evans, formerly of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Mary Margaret Fitch of New York, New York, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Lynn Fitch, Ashley Horton, and Sterling Kenan of Chapel Hill; Allison Carr and Liz Harris of Charlotte; Claire Hedgecoe of Fayetteville; and Amelia Morgan and Ferebee Bishop of New York, New York. The junior bridesmaids were Kyle Rountree and Sterling Rountree of Old Lyme, Connecticut. The flower girls were Grier Paulson of Raleigh and Alston Rountree of Old Lyme, Connecticut.
Phil Cheatwood served as his son's best man. The groomsmen were Colin Freccia, Tripp Phillips, and Hunter Pruette of Chapel Hill; David Hedgecoe of Fayetteville; Phil Burris of Winston-Salem; Tony Hamner of Delray Beach, Florida; Hunter Wagner of Dallas, Texas; Travis Wagner of San Antonio, Texas; and Clifton Cameron of Richmond, Virginia. Freeman Paulson of Raleigh, Henry Aherne and Patrick Aherne of Lake Forest, Illinois served as ring bearers.
Lindsay Darnell of New York, New York, and Dorothy Harvey, Elizabeth Livingston, and Sarah Peterson of Raleigh served as greeters. Brooke Aherne of Lake Forest, Illinois, David Paulson of Raleigh, and Robin Rountree of Old Lyme, Connecticut, performed readings during the ceremony.
The bride graduated from Durham Academy and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law. In September, he will be joining the law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton in Charlotte.
Following a honeymoon trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, the couple will live in Charlotte.
