Kornegay - Knell
Julie Lynn Knell and James Wallace Kornegay II of Youngsville were married August 7, 2004, at five-thirty in the evening in the garden of The Preston Woodall House in Benson. A dinner and dance reception was held at Ballroom of The Preston Woodall House.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Betty Knell of Hartsville, South Carolina. Parents of the groom are Reverend James Wallace Kornegay Sr. and Verlie Kornegay of Youngsville.
The bride was escorted by her father. The bride wore a strapless silk Henry Roth gown trimmed in crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of Casablanca lilies and white roses.
Martha Flaherty of Raleigh, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor, and Kathy Ward of Slidell, Louisiana, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Beth Warstler of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Jamie McAllaster of Matthews, Holly Kornegay of Raleigh, and Saundra Springer of Youngsville. Jessica Springer of Youngsville and Megan Ward of Slidell, Louisiana, served as flower girls.
Kris Kornegay of Youngsville and James Kornegay III of Raleigh, sons of the groom, served as best men. The groomsmen were Dr. Jonathan Barnes of Goldsboro, Johnny Kornegay of Franklinton, and James Wallace Kornegay Sr. and Steven Springer of Youngsville. Bradley Ward of Slidell, Louisiana, served as the flower girls' escort.
Tracey Adams of A Taylor'd Touch directed the wedding. Special helpers were Amanda Warstler, Marie Barnes, Gracie McEvoy, Kim Hannah, and Karen Price.
Peggy Scott of Wake Forest and Kathleen Golden of Raleigh provided music.
A bridal luncheon was hosted by Martha Flaherty on July 25, 2004. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride and groom at The Preston Woodall House.
The bride graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Business Management. She is a commercial underwriter with Nationwide Insurance Company.
The groom is the chief executive officer for North Carolina Communications, Inc.
After a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica, the couple will live in Youngsville.
