Kara Jean Adams and David Lawrence Sullivan of Durham were married August 21, 2004, at half after five o'clock in the afternoon at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church. Reverend Ruth Harper Stevens officiated. A reception was held at Holiday Inn Mansion on the Hill in Research Triangle Park.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Talbert Lee Adams and Mrs. Vickie Godfrey of Durham. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Berkley McKinney of Durham, the late Mr. and Mrs. Alton Rosemond Andrews of Durham, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lee Adams of Durham.
Parents of the groom are Ms. Krena Dawn Morris of McLean, Virginia, and Mr. Lawrence John Sullivan of Norton, Massachusetts. He is the grandson of Mrs. Stephen Ralph Zanieski of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and the late Mr. Stephen Ralph Zanieski, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Michael Sullivan Sr. of Green Harbor, Massachusetts.
Mrs. Rhonda Adams Vaughan of Greensboro, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Ms. Kimberly Lynn Thomas of Durham, Mrs. Laura Gilbert Upchurch of Chapel Hill, and Mrs. Lisa Vasilik Achterberg of Raleigh.
Mr. Dennis Michael Moloney of Atlanta, Georgia, served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Grahame Geoffrey Fraser of Santa Monica, California, Mr. Thomas Joseph Deters currently residing in Moscow, Russia, and Mr. Jeffrey David Marcus of Washington, DC. The ushers were Mr. Michael Lee Adams of Raleigh, brother of the bride; and Mr. Barry Arthur Burdett of Alexandria, Virginia, brother-in-law of the groom.
Ms. Morgan Elizabeth Vaughan of Greensboro, niece of the bride, served as program attendant. The guest registry attendant was Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Patrick of Chapel Hill. Readings were by Ms. Brittany Lee Adams of Raleigh, niece of the bride, and Mrs. Stephanie Dawn Burdett of Alexandria, Virginia, sister of the groom.
The bride is currently attending North Carolina Wesleyan College. She is a program manager with the Kenan-Flagler Business School's Executive Education Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The groom received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from The George Washington University and a Masters of Science degree in Library Science from Simmons College. He is a senior associate with the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
After a honeymoon trip to St. John, United States Virgin Islands, the couple will live in Durham.
