Linda Parker Watkins and Robert Jefferson Wright II of Raleigh were married Saturday, August 21, 2004, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro. The ceremony was officiated by The Reverend John Shelley Akers III and The Reverend Dr. William Harling Puckett Jr., uncle of the bride. After the wedding, a reception was held at the Greensboro Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Claiborne Watkins of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elton Caron Parker of Clinton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thurston Ivan Watkins of Wilmington.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glenn Wright of Raleigh. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Leak Smith of Asheboro, the late Mrs. Eleanor Mayes Smith of Asheboro, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jefferson Wright of Arlington, Virginia, and Raleigh.
Miss Ashley Caron Watkins of Washington, DC, and Miss Sallie Claiborne Watkins of Greensboro, sisters of the bride, served as maids of honor. The bridesmaids were Mary Hatton Adkins, Elizabeth Brooks Holderness, Kelly Diachenko Jones, and Wendy Holmes Wright, sister-in-law of the groom, of Raleigh; Jennifer Lynn Eshelman of Atlanta, Georgia; Mary Emerson London of Washington, DC; and Elizabeth Burns Wicker of New York, New York. Lillian Michelle Leistiko and Sydney Marie Leistiko of Scottsdale, Arizona, cousins of the groom, served as flower girls.
Robert Glenn Wright served as his son's best man. The groomsmen were Charles Ryan Combs of Alexandria, Virginia; Michael Johnston Goodmon, William Finlay Hogg III, Thomas Smith Jordan, Grayson Garrett Russell, and Brent McCallum Wright, brother of the groom, of Raleigh; and David James Leistiko of Scottsdale, Arizona, cousin of the groom. Robert James Ramseur III of Raleigh served as ring bearer.
The greeters were Jeanette Grey Parker of Greensboro, cousin of the bride; and Ainsley Mayes Smith and Sara Elizabeth Smith of Washington, cousins of the groom. The readers were Allison Vaughn Beeson of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Lester Caron Parker II of Raleigh. The crucifer was Carl Woodall Hibbert Jr. of Raleigh.
Parents of the groom and family hosted a rehearsal dinner and dance on Friday night.
The bride graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She is employed with Saint Mary's School in Raleigh.
The groom graduated from Ravenscroft School and North Carolina State University. He is employed with Newcomb and Company in Raleigh.
After a honeymoon trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in Raleigh.
