Susan Harwood Edwards of Raleigh and Daniel Francis Lewis of Marietta, Georgia, were married August 21, 2004, at five-thirty in the evening at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. Dr. Arthur Ross III and The Reverend Robert Clendenin Spach officiated. A reception was held at The Second Empire after the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George Sadler Edwards Jr. of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Gilbert Harwood Jr. of Raleigh, and Dr. and Mrs. George Sadler Edwards Sr. of Raleigh.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Joseph Lewis of Marietta, Georgia. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lionel Roeder of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and Dr. and Mrs. Gordon Fielding Lewis of Essex Junction, Vermont.
Julia Lynn Edwards of Raleigh, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Kimberly Caitlin Lewis of Marietta, Georgia, sister of the groom; Margaret McCants Peery McLaughlin of Richmond, Virginia; Page Burke Neubert of Norwalk, Connecticut; Heather Grace Shortlidge of West Grove, Pennsylvania; Linda Donnell Turner of Brooklyn, New York; and Emily Allison Williams of Durham.
Jeffrey Joseph Lewis served as his son's best man. The groomsmen were George Wilkes Chapman III, William Harrison Higgins V, Jarrett Hayden McLaughlin, and Trey Walton Meredith of Richmond, Virginia; George Sadler Edwards III of Raleigh, brother of the bride; and Michael Lawrence Orlando of Davidson.
Greeters were Katherine Banks Fitzgerald of Winston-Salem, and Nancy Lee Patterson Fitzgerald of Charlotte.
Dr. Brock W. Downward organist, and Donna Harwood Mulholland violinist provided music.
The bride graduated from Davidson College and is currently enrolled in Union Theological Seminary and Virginia Commonwealth University.
The groom graduated from Davidson College and is currently enrolled at Union Theological Seminary.
After a honeymoon trip to Costa Rica, the couple will live in Richmond, Virginia.
