Amber Lynne Quarles of Raleigh and Bruce Joel DeWitt of Charlotte were married Saturday, June 26, 2004, at six o'clock in the evening in a double-ring ceremony at the Chapel Hill Inn. Reverend Ralph M. McCormick officiated. A reception and dinner was held following the ceremony in the Hill Grand Ballroom.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orage Quarles III of Raleigh.
Parents of the groom are Harley Dewitt of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Claudette DeWitt of Cambridge, England.
Alicia L. Quarles of Los Angeles, California, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Tia Bost, Courtney Carter and Nadia Lightner of Charlotte; Aisha Hardimon of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania; Selena Lyons of Dallas, Texas; Rafiah Mustafa of New York, New York, and Monifa Vaughn-Cooke of Los Angeles, California. Corinna DeWitt of Cambridge England, sister of the groom, was a junior bridesmaid. The flowers girls were Emma Taylor of Apopka, Florida, and Kaila Taylor of Union City, California, cousins of the bride.
Erick May of Charlotte, friend of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Carlton Terry of Conway, South Carolina, cousin of the groom; Michael Geter of Leesburg, Virginia; Dr. William Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; Christopher Key of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Andre Purvis of Durham; and Brian Simmons of Cincinnati, Ohio. The ring bearer was Carlton Terry Jr., godson of the groom. Richard Harris of Oakland, California, served as an usher.
Attendants were Nicole Goolsby of Dublin, California, cousin of the bride, and Tasanya Harper of Las Vegas, Nevada, god sister of the bride.
The pianist was Dr. Marvin Curtis, and the soloist was Tiffany Adams. Harpist Ann Dunn played the prelude and during the reception.
Claudette DeWitt, mother of the groom, hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Carolina Club on Friday evening, June 25, 2004.
Both the bride and groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Amber is a Marketing Consultant with Wachovia. Bruce is a Derivative Sales Associate with Wachovia.
The couple honeymooned in Belize and will reside in Charlotte.
