Christiana Chapman Hobgood and Steven Frederick Fischer were married on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at four o'clock in the afternoon at Louisburg United Methodist Church in Louisburg. The Reverend Doctor William Stanley Smith junior officiated at the double ring ceremony. A dinner and dance reception was given by the bride's parents at Sisters' Garden in Raleigh.
The bride is the daughter of the Honorable and Mrs. Robert Haywood Hobgood of Louisburg. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Norman Chadwick of Beaufort, and the late Honorable and Mrs. Hamilton Harris Hobgood of Louisburg.
The groom is the son of Ms. Karen Alyse Fischer of Flint, Michigan, and Mr. Frederick Edward Fischer junior of Grand Blanc, Michigan. He is the grandson of Mrs. Frederick Edward Fischer senior of Burton, Michigan, and the late Mr. Fischer senior, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Conaton of Flint, Michigan.
The bride was escorted by her father. Kathryn Marie McNamara of Raleigh, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth McCrary Hobgood of Newark, Delaware, sister-in-law of the bride; Emily Katherine Eidenier of Hillsborough, cousin of the bride; and Lindy Bernice Blankenship of Raleigh, Cheryl Lynn Giles of Columbus, Ohio, and Rosemary Diane Stowers of Morrisville, friends of the bride. Honorary bridesmaids were Amy Amanda Bart of Holland, Michigan, and Laura Amanda Cummings of Fenton, Michigan, sisters of the groom; and Marla Edwards Mize of Raleigh, friend of the bride. Alicia Nicole McDonough of Wake Forest served as flower girl.
David Thomas Fischer of Holland, Michigan, brother of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Dr. Lacy Chadwick Hobgood of Newark, Delaware, brother of the bride; and Daniel Walter Goehring of Cary, Mark Allan McDonough of Wake Forest, Joshua Ned Verhage of Royal Oak, Michigan, and Christopher William Garth Weeden of British, Columbia, Canada, friends of the groom. The ring bearer was Matthew Tyler McDonough of Wake Forest.
The wedding ceremony was directed by Zelma Green Williams. Mr. and Mrs. William Wilson Mize were guest book attendants. At the reception, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Paul McNamara greeted the guests. Floral designs were by W. Henry Dickerson of Flowers by Henry.
Organist Joseph Adolphus Pearce junior, pianist Phyllis Ihrie, flautist Sarah Melissa Fenske, and soloist Katherine Sperry Pierce provided music for the ceremony. Disc jockey Steve L. Lusk provided music at the reception.
On the eve of the wedding, Ms. Karen Alyse Fischer, mother of the groom, hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Person Place in Louisburg.
The bride graduated from Peace College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She is a Special Agent with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation in the Forensic Biology Section.
The groom graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging. He is a packaging engineer with GlaxoSmithKline.
After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, British West Indies, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
