Elaine Quinto Lagasca and Christopher Douglas Goodwin of Wake Forest were married on June 26, 2004, at half-after-two in the afternoon at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Greenville. The Reverend Father Thomas McCann officiated the double ring ceremony and mass. A Filipino cultural tradition of veil, cord, coins, and the lighting of the unity candle were part of the ceremony. A dinner reception and dancing was held at Brook Valley County Club hosted by the bride's parents in Greenville.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jaime Lagasca of Greenville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Josefina Lagasca of Greenville, the late Mr. Antonio Lagasca of the Philippines, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Pedro and Rosalina Quinto of the Philippines.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Neil Preston of Gastonia. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beaver, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Ipock, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Goodwin of Gastonia, and Mrs. Ruth Preston of Shelby.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father, Mr. Jaime D. Lagasca. The bride wore a white gown made of rich satin with a sheer organza overlay. The gown had a strapless fitted bodice that flowed into a sheath skirt. The entire gown was covered with appliqués adorned with crystals, pearls, and lace. A semi-cathedral train elegantly finished the gown with the same lace and beaded decoration. The bride also wore a white sheer cathedral length veil adorned with scattered pearls crowned with a headpiece made of white satin flowers and pearl ornaments encrusted with live white orchid flowers attached in the bride's hair. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, lilies, and roses.
Miss Jennifer Quinto Lagasca of Durham, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Ratchanee Pongpila of San Clemente, California, Miss Jennifer Lynn Wallace of Durham, and Miss Traci Gayle Weaver of Cary, friends of the bride. The flower girl was Mae Cayaban of Jersey City, New Jersey, family member of the bride.
Mr. Neil Preston of Gastonia, father of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Brad Beaver of Lincolnton, cousin of the groom; Mr. Chad Hedgepeth of Rocky Mount, friend of the groom; and Mr. James Quinto Lagasca of Durham, brother of the bride. Mr. David Earl Barrett Jr. of Raleigh and Mr. Savio Tran of Charlotte, friends of the bride and groom, also served as ushers. The ring bearer was Tyler Peeler of Dallas, cousin of the groom.
Mr. Larry Barbour of Greenville, family friend of the bride, directed the wedding. Program attendants were Jeffrey Martinez of Jersey City, New Jersey, godson of the bride, and Brittany Peeler of Dallas, cousin of the groom. Registrar attendants were Miss Brooke Beaver of Charlotte, cousin of the groom, and Miss Meera Ganatra of Chapel Hill, friend of the bride. The readers were Miss Maribelle Servito of Union Beach, New Jersey, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Son Tran of Arlington, Virginia, friend of the bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Pio Martinez of Jersey City, New Jersey, cousins of the bride, were bearers of the Filipino veil for the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Gret Servito of Union Beach, New Jersey, uncle and aunt of the bride, were bearers of the Filipino cord for the couple. Parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Jaime Lagasca were coin bearers. Wedding photography was provided by Mr. Marvin Gurganus, Picture This! Photography of Jamesville. Wedding videography was provided by Mr. Michael Buscemi of Wilson. Ms. Gail Phelps of Greenville provided the wedding cake. Mr. Larry Barbour, family friend of the bride, and B.J.'s Bouquets provided flower arrangements for the ceremony and reception site. Wedding favors were provided by Mrs. Fe Cortijo, aunt of the bride. Granelle limo service was used for transportation.
Musical solos and flute were provided by Mrs. Mary Mayancsik of Greenville. Mr. Reggie Earls of Greenville was pianist and organist. Flashpoint band provided musical entertainment at the wedding reception.
A tropical luau bridal shower was hosted by Miss Jennifer Quinto Lagasca and Mrs. Eva Lagasca, sister and mother of the bride, at Caveness Farms Clubhouse in Wake Forest on May 15, 2004. A wedding shower for the couple was celebrated at Hospira in Rocky Mount on June 4, 2004. The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party on the eve of the wedding at Beef Barn in Greenville. A hospitality pig-pickin dinner was hosted on the eve of the wedding at the bride's parents' home by Mr. Luis Lagasca, uncle of the bride, and Mr. Larry Barbour.
The bride graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and minor in Microbiology from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed as a registered nurse at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
The groom graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He is employed as a validation engineer at Hospira in Rocky Mount.
After a surprise honeymoon trip to a tropical destination in the Caribbean, the couple will live in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area.
