Burris - Parrott
Catherine Hunter Reaben Parrott of Kinston and Philip Michael Burris of Winston-Salem were united in marriage on April 24, 2004, at half after four in the afternoon at Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Kinston. The Reverend Allen Michael Singer was the officiant of the double-ring ceremony. After the ceremony, a wedding celebration was hosted by the bride's parents at The Bentley Estate.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hardee Parrott of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Henderson Roberts of Hendersonville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Allen Parrott Sr. of Kinston.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fredrick Bradshaw Burris III of High Point. He is the grandson of Mrs. Anne Koontz Hutton and the late Mr. Marion Sprunt Hutton, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fredrick Bradshaw Burris Jr., all of High Point.
The bride graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. A member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, she was presented by the Terpsichorean Club as an assistant leader of the 1999 North Carolina Debutante Ball. Hunter was employed by Duke University Institute of the Arts and the Department of Dance and by The Ballet School of Chapel Hill.
The groom received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is currently a sales coordinator for Krispy Kreme, Inc. of Winston-Salem.
The bride's mother, Mrs. Jo Roberts Parrott, was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Cooper Parham Bratton and Megan Agnes Williams of Raleigh; Anne Elizabeth Burris of Chapel Hill, sister of the groom; Emily Mayer Gammon and Helen Strange Williams of Washington, DC; Lauren Anne Hill of Atlanta, Georgia; Amy Elizabeth Tackett of Winston-Salem; and Elizabeth Roberson Morrison and Emily Elizabeth York of Charlotte. Attendants were Sallie Exum Barrett of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Leah Myers Leggett of Houston, Texas, and Victoria Alexandra Ueltschi of Chapel Hill.
The groom's father, Mr. Jack Fredrick Bradshaw Burris III served as his son's best man. The groomsmen were Jack Fredrick Bradshaw Burris IV of Washington, DC, and William Kent Burris of High Point, brothers of the groom; Jacob Fletcher Parrott of Raleigh, brother of the bride; Robert Nobel Bailey of Raleigh; David Lynn Cheatwood of Chapel Hill; Christopher Bond Covington of High Point; Gordon Hardin Kolb junior of New Orleans, Louisiana; Drew Patterson Plonk of Winston-Salem; and Adam Davis Garry of Fort Collins, Colorado. Mr. John Miles Lamont and Mr. Joseph Francis Cannon of Charlotte served as ushers.
A wedding eve dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at the Kinston Country Club. After the dinner, the Voltage Brothers provided music at a dance hosted by friends of the groom.
Following a wedding trip to Little Dix Bay, the British Virgin Islands, the couple is at home in Winston-Salem.
