Jennifer Kathryn Burlington and John Edward Markham, III of Raleigh were married on June 5, 2004, at five-thirty in the evening at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. Reverend Vernon C. Tyson officiated. The reception was held at the North Carolina Museum of History.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William David Burlington of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Colonel and Mrs. C.E. Anderson of Auburn, California, and Mrs. Maxine Clayton Burlington of Hanford, California, and the late Dr. William Joseph Burlington.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Markham, junior of Durham. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gibson Buie of Biscoe, and Mrs. Rhea Lansing Adams of Wilmington and the late Mr. John Edward Markham.
Elizabeth Anne Burlington served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Elizabeth Lauren Bowman, Elizabeth Frances Cherry, Erin Elizabeth Floyd, Ashley Hawkins Freeman, Whitney Lawrence Grady, Kelley Johnson Perkins, Lauren Brown Sigler, and Marion Bethea Youngblood.
John Edward Markham, junior served as best man. The groomsmen were Robert Whitehead Allsbrook, III, Robert Marcus Colley, James Thomas Grady, Brian Frederick Jinks, Matthew Charles Long, Thomas Broocks Markham, Charles Buie Markham, Garrett Arthur McKnight, and Carter MacKenzie Smith.
The readers were Beth Georganna Hungate-Noland and John Maxwell Cogburn, III. Mary Rochelle McGowan served as program attendant.
The bride graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Richmond School of Law. She is an associate at Smith Anderson Blount Dorsett Mitchell and Jerningan, LLP.
The groom graduated from Elon College. He works at National Power Corporation.
After traveling throughout Spain, the couple will live in Raleigh.
