Sarah Katherine Worth and Sean Michael O'Brien of Durham were married May 29, 2004, at five-thirty in the afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh. Reverend Bob Inskeep officiated. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Crenshaw Worth Jr. of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. W. Edmund Greer of Raleigh and the late Mr. Greer, and Mrs. David C. Worth of Raleigh and the late Mr. Worth.
Parents of the groom are Ms. Judith O'Brien of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dr. Richard O'Brien of Satigny, Switzerland. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Ruth Noonan of Lexington, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nau of Weirton, West Virginia.
Candace Worth of Plymouth, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Colleen McDonough of Annapolis, Maryland, sister of the groom; and Leigh Hagan of Santa Barbara, California, friend of the bride. Grace McDonough of Annapolis, Maryland, niece of the groom, served as flower girl.
Dr. Eliot DeSilva of Cambridge, Massachusetts, friend of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Mike Ostrowski of Marina Del Rey, California, and Josh Moore of Atlanta, Georgia, friends of the groom. The ushers were Brian Calingaert of Durham and Zack Moore of Decatur, Georgia, friends of the groom; and James Pray of Medford, Massachusetts, stepbrother of the groom.
Mrs. Donald M. McCord, aunt of the bride, was the floral designer. Noelle Talley and Rupa Krishnamurthy were readers in the ceremony.
The bride is a research associate with the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at North Carolina State University.
The groom is an assistant professor of Biostatistics at Duke Clinical Research Institute at Duke University School of Medicine.
After a honeymoon trip to Greece and Switzerland, the couple will live in Durham.
