Julie Marie Pittman and J. Gary Penner of Raleigh were married May 1, 2004, at four o'clock in the afternoon at Delightful Inspirations in Raleigh. Reverend Yates Webb officiated. After the ceremony, the reception was held at Delightful Inspirations.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Brenda E. Pittman and Mr. Harold L. Pittman of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Inez Etheridge of Wilson and the late Mr. Carlton Etheridge, and Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Pittman of Black Creek.
Parents of the groom are Mr. Gary A. Penner of Wolcott, New York, and the late Mrs. Lena Penner. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Saito of Seneca Falls, New York, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jay Penner of Wolcott, New York.
Mrs. Elizabeth Thornton served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Tracy Koltun, Missy Pittman, and Kate Ballsieper. Samantha Koltun served as flower girl.
Jeremy Thornton served as best man. The groomsmen were Ken Koltun, Darin Pittman, and Jason McKnight. Luke Koltun served as ring bearer.
Mrs. Ann Phillips directed the wedding. Program attendants were Amanda Etheridge and Janna Pittman. The register attendant was Laurie Pittman.
Harpist Mrs. Ina Newell provided music.
Gary A. Penner hosted a rehearsal dinner on Friday, April 30, 2004, at Angus Barn.
The bride graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is an associate scientist with PPD Development.
The groom is Microsoft Certified System Engineer certified and is currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix online pursuing his Bachelor of Information Technology degree. He is the director of information technology with RMS Telecommunications.
The groom planned a surprise honeymoon to New York City, New York, New Zealand, and Australia. The couple lives in Raleigh.
