Melissa Dawn Barrett and Christopher Allan Rodgers of Raleigh were married Saturday, June 5, 2004, at six o'clock in the evening at Zebulon Baptist Church in Zebulon. Reverend L. Jack Glasgow Jr. officiated the double ring ceremony. A reception was held at The Capital City Club in Raleigh.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Mark Shawver Barrett of Zebulon. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Damron of Zebulon, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James F. Barrett of Huntington, West Virginia.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Arthur Rodgers of Middletown, New York. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Jerome Kash, and Mrs. Jeane Kash-Isby and Mr. Harvey Isby of Clark Summit, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Gertrude A. Rodgers of State College, Pennsylvania, and the late Mr. Robert M. Rodgers.
The bride wore a formal candlelight organza gown. The strapless gown featured a crème satin pleated cumberbund waistline. The bodice, skirt, and cathedral length train were designed with an elaborately beaded organza overlay of pearls, crystals, seed rocaille beads, and silver rhinestones. She wore a pearl and crystal tiara with a cathedral length sparkle illusion veil dotted with rhinestones. She carried a cascading bouquet of roses, calla lilies, and white stephanotis.
The bride was presented in marriage by her father, Dr. Mark Shawver Barrett. Miss Meredith Leigh Barrett of Raleigh, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Julie Ann Erwin of Huntington, West Virginia, and Miss Kathleen Marie-Soo Evans of San Antonio, Texas, cousins of the bride; and Dr. Stacey Elizabeth Baker of Charlottesville, Virginia, Dr. Becky Ann Childers of Charlotte, Mrs. Mary Paul Cantin of Zebulon, and Miss Anne Thurston Debnam of Summerville, South Carolina, friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Miss Taylor Maria Windley of Zebulon, friend of the bride. Miss Catherine Elizabeth Chudakoff of Canyon Country, California, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.
Robert Nelson Miles of Raleigh, friend of the groom served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. Mark Richard Egan of Washington, D.C., Mr. Michael Denton Juelke of Raleigh, Mr. Patrick Owen Legare of Walden, New York, Mr. Christopher Thomas Kelley of Raleigh, Mr. Scott Robert Shutts of Charlotte, and Mr. Scott Jonathan Lamond of Wilson, friends of the groom; and Mr. Jason Jay Steele of State College, Pennsylvania, cousin of the groom. Heber W. Windley IV of Zebulon, friend of the bride, was the ring bearer.
Mrs. Jane Mitchell was the wedding director. Mrs. Jackie Ammons of The Flower Shop provided floral arrangements. The Capital City Club provided catering. Dr. and Mrs. Heber W. Windley III were register attendants.
Pianist Mrs. Linda Perry and soloists Mrs. Barbara Glasgow and Reverend L. Jack Glasgow Jr. provided music.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at Caffé Luna.
The bride graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. She is a process engineer with GlaxoSmithKline.
The groom graduated from Barton College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine. He is a lawn specialist with Fairway Green.
After a honeymoon trip to St. Johns, Antigua, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
