Burger - Hanford

Georgia Lee Hanford and Nicholas Farhad Burger of New York, New York, were married October 4, 2003, at five o'clock in the afternoon at the First Congregational Church in Manchester, Vermont. Dr. Steven E. Berry officiated the ceremony. A cocktail hour and reception followed at the Equinox. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lee Hanford of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hilliard Ayers of Rocky Mount, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ransom Hanford of Henderson. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Van Vechten Burger of New York, New York. He is the grandson of Mrs. Shamsi Iran Farhad of London England, and the late Dr. Ahmad Farhad, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Van Vechten Burger Sr. of New York. The bride wore an ivory, chiffon A-line Jim Hjelm gown. It featured a strapless neckline, crystal and pearl beaded trim, side-draped skirt, and sweep train. The cathedral length veil was specially designed using the same ivory chiffon and fresh flowers. Heather Merrill Fain of New York served as maid of honor and Elizabeth McWilliams Kimzey of New York served as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were sisters of the groom, Katrina Iran Brooker and Leila Burger Mansouri of New York; sister-in-law of the bride, Tina Marie Hanford of Middletown, Maryland; cousin of the bride, Lindsay Ayers Lucas of Centreville, Virginia; friends of the bride, Bridget Michele Finnegan and Clarice Zanoni Smith of New York. Niece of the bride, Isabella Marie Hanford was the flower girl. The father of the groom, Van Vechten Burger, served as best man. The groomsmen were brothers-in-law of the groom, Thomas Kimball Brooker III and Richard Paul Mansouri of New York; brother of the bride, Matt Craig Hanford of Maryland; friends, Ian Livingston MacLaren of Charlottesville, Virginia, Anthony Alexander Donn of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Zachary Scofield Scheiner of Seattle, Washington, and John David Walsh of New York. Friend of the bride, Elizabeth Moss Louttit, and cousin of the groom, Mohammad Sardar-Afkhami of New York, were readers. The bride graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh and is a certified financial planner with UBS Financial Services, Inc. in New York and Raleigh. The groom graduated from Yale University and is a senior associate with ZS Fund L.P., a private equity firm in New York. After a honeymoon trip to Africa, which included a safari in the Masai-Mara National Reserve in Kenya and a week in the Seychelles Islands, the couple now resides in New York City, New York.
