The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Janet Huffstetler of Chapel Hill and Mr. O. Max Gardner III of Shelby.

Parents of the groom are Mrs. Phyllis Calechman of Raleigh and Dr. Fredrick Naftolin of Woodbridge, Connecticut.

After a honeymoon trip to Charleston, South Carolina, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
