Spiller - Lacy

Dana Borden Lacy and Benjamin Winston Spiller were married on Sunday, May 25, 2003, at six thirty in the evening on the ocean terrace at The Coral Bay Club in Atlantic Beach. The Reverend Ms. Emily Viverette of Winston Salem officiated with readings by Ms. Nicole Gooding Ray of Chapel Hill. Music was provided by Dr. Edward Bach and The Market Street Brass of Greensboro. The ceremony was followed by a reception and seafood buffet. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham Gordon Lacy Jr. of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brownrigg Borden III of Goldsboro, and the late Reverend Dr. and Mrs. Graham Gordon Lacy of Washington D.C. She graduated from The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and was a member of Tri Delta sorority. The bride earned her Doctorate in Chemistry at The University of California in Berkeley, and is currently a Helen Hay Whitney Fellow in postdoctoral research at Harvard University Medical School in Boston. She was presented by the Debutante Club of Greensboro and the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh. The groom is the son of Professor (emeritus) Richard and Patricia Chandler Spiller from Fountain Valley, California. He is the grandson of the late Abraham and Sara Waxman Spiller and the late Kelsey and Patricia Louise Lyons Chandler. He attended Eldorado School in Orange County, California, K'far Blum American School in Israel, and Fountain Valley High School. He graduated from The University of California at Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and earned his Doctorate in Molecular Biology at The University of California in Berkeley. Dr. Spiller did post doctoral research at Yale University under the late Professor Paul Stigler and is currently the Paul Stigler-Helen Hay Whitney Fellow in postdoctoral research at the Harvard University Medical School. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride was attended by her sister, Sallie Gordon Lacy of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The groom chose as his best man his brother, Daniel Spiller of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Best dog was Chuck. Following a wedding trip to Peru and Bolivia, the couple will reside in Boston, Massachusetts.
