Hankins - Winner

Leanne Elizabeth Winner and Stewart Ellis Hankins of Raleigh were married November 30, 2002 at twelve noon in Asheville. A reception was held at the Country Club of Asheville. The bride is the daughter of Dr. Linda Cogdill Winner of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Judge Dennis Jay Winner of Asheville. Parents of the groom are Mary Frances Hankins of Wilmington and the late James Henry Hankins. Sister of the bride, Lauren Frances Winner of Charlottesville, Virginia, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Paula Hopper of Raleigh, Susan Markham of Wilmington, Laura Gillette of Santa Monica, California, and Katherine West of Waynesville. Junior bridesmaids were Kathleen Hankins of Raleigh and Lilian Schorr of Charlotte. Brother of the groom, James Morris Hankins of Lexington, Kentucky, served as best man. Groomsmen were Dee Freeman and Doug Holbrook of Raleigh, Dewitt McCarley of Charlotte, and Thomas Winner of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The bride received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Colorado College and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Iowa. She is employed as director of governmental relations with the North Carolina School Boards Association. The groom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree, law degree, and a Masters degree in City Planning. He is employed as executive director with the North Carolina League of Municipalities. After a honeymoon trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Raleigh.
